Espasso is dedicated to modern and contemporary design from Brazil, with showrooms in New York and Los Angeles, the company is focused on the very niche market for Brazilian furniture. Their selection of designers, range from mid-century modernists such as Oscar Niemeyer, Ricardo Fasanello, Sergio Rodrigues and Joaquim Tenreiro to emerging and established designers like Isay Weinfeld, Carlos Motta and Arthur Casas.

Starchitects at Dellis Cay
We wrote before about Piero Lissoni’s designs for Dellis Cay. Ground has now been broken on this project on a private island in the Turks and Caicos. New designs have been unveiled by Shigeru Ban, David Chipperfield, Carl Ettensperger, Zaha Hadid, Kengo Kuma, and Chad Oppenheim.

Les Bains des Docks by Jean Nouvel
Les Bains des Docks Aquatic Centre designed by Jean Nouvel has been opened in the historical Port of Le Havre. We marvel at the way the light plays over the surfaces, and of course the splash of colour. Inspired by Roman baths, these baths are part of a revitalized dock area of the port city.

Travel: Stay at Benesse House by Tadao Ando
If you can’t live in a house designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, then a stay at the Benesse house may come in a close second. Designed as a group of four novel buildings on the grounds of Benesse Art Site Naoshima, the setting fuses an art museum with lodging facilities so guests can leisurely enjoy art amid the natural beauty and gentle pace of Naoshima island.

Light and Sound at Liquidrom Therme Berlin
Liquidrom Berlin opened in the Neuen Tempodrom at the Anhalter Bahnhof in Berlin as the first Liquid Sound Day Spa. The concept fits perfectly in the capital city. With a programme of regular live concerts at full moon, DJ evenings in the Liquidrom club, jazz or classical music programmes, poetry readings and light-art-water events, the Liquidrom has quickly established its distinct profile in the cultural capital of Germany.

Marc Newson’s Space Tourism – Designed for Comfort
The spaceplane was unveiled in Paris by its manufacturer, Astrium, part of the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company, as the latest challenger in the space tourism market. Like its archrival Virgin Galactic, where the designer is Philippe Starck, Astrium plans to take people into space and straight back again. It expects to charge up to , or about $265,000, for a ticket when commercial flights start in 2012. Another competitor, Space Adventures, will offer multimillion-dollar eight-day holidays at a space station.
